CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

August 17, 2008

 

1)     WE WELCOME OUR VISITORS WHO ARE WORSHIPPING WITH US.  We encourage you to sign the Visitors Book, which is located at the back of the sanctuary.  If you're new to our church, and would like more information about our church programs, please contact the pastor at the church office (921-2253).

 

2)     CHURCH FAMILIES IN OUR PRAYERS.  Edmund Smith, Sue Schindler, Jeanne Shields, Paul Rhen, Tom Beck, Ruth Myers, Marjorie Hitz, Marion Baddorf, Kay Megonnell, Diane Putt, David Cormany and David Fieseler. Please remember to keep these members in your prayers.

 

3)     BOOK CLUB. Presbyterian Page Turners Suggestions For Summer Reading! The August selection is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.  September’s selection is The Masked Rider by Neil Peart.  If you have any questions about the book choices please ask any of the regular attending book club members.  They will be happy to fill you in!  See you the last Thursday of each month in the church lounge at 7:00.  Mark on your calendar for August 28th, and September 25th.

 

4)     MISSION PROJECT.  The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance program is in need of clean-up buckets to assist with clean up activities. The contents of each bucket average $50.  Please prayerfully consider making a contribution to help those in need.  Make your checks to Hope Church and mark them PDA. For more information on how and where you can help, please contact Ava Shaffer at 732-3660 or aishaffer@comcast.net.   PDA has already utilized $10,000 from One Great Hour of Sharing funds and any assistance will be appreciated.

 

5)     FALL SCHEDULE. On Sunday, September 7, we return to our fall schedule. The Celebration Service begins at 8:15 AM.  Sunday School begins at 9:20 AM.  The Lord’s Day Service begins at 10:30 AM.

 

6)     MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP MEETING.  The middle school youth group will meet at the church on Sunday, August 24, immediately following the special congregational meeting.

 

7)     SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING:  There will be a special congregational meeting on Sunday, August 24, at 11 AM, in the sanctuary, for the purpose of receiving the recommendation of the Session that the congregation approve borrowing up to $225,000 for the completion of identified building projects and request the concurrence of the Presbytery of Carlisle in this action.  There will be only one service on August 24 at 10 AM.  Notice of the special meeting and information regarding the projects will be mailed to all active members of the church.

 

8)     BAND CONCERT. The Central Dauphin Band Boosters Association is thrilled to announce that we are hosting the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra this September 16 at 7:00pm at the Central Dauphin High School, 437 Piketown Road, Harrisburg, PA .   The Central Dauphin High School Jazz I Ensemble will also perform in our state-of-the-art auditorium. Admission is only $9 for students and seniors, $12 for adults.  Proceeds benefit the Central Dauphin band program.  I’ve attached a flyer and a ticket order form.  More ticket order forms are available online at www.cdramband.org or by calling 717.979.2312.

10)  THANK YOU. Thank you to Roger and Dick Peffer for painting the oil tank and pressure washing the sidewalks. Both were needed improvements.
